Hip Hop Week In Review: Tekashi 6ix9ine’s Arrest & Joyner Lucas Battles Tory Lanez

HipHopDX – This week in Hip Hop, Tekashi 6ix9ine was picked up by federal agents on charges that come with a possible life sentence in prison. Also, Tory Lanez and Joyner Lucas got into a friendly rap battle and Pusha T‘s Toronto show was interrupted by an on-stage brawl incited by beer-throwing hecklers.

Tekashi 6ix9ine Faces Life In Prison

Tekashi 6ix9ine, whose government name is Daniel Hernandez, was taken into custody by federal agents on racketeering and firearms charges. 6ix9ine and other members of his crew, who law enforcement officials allege are members of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, were also picked up in an ongoing case spearheaded by the FBI, ATF and Homeland Security.

Due to his arrest, the release date for his Dummy Boy project — originally due out last Friday (November 23) — was postponed.

6ix9ine and several of his associates are facing life in prison. The controversial rapper was recently moved from general population to a facility for inmates considered to be high-profile, pedophiles or protected witnesses. According to TMZ, the other inmates housed there believe he’s receiving “special treatment.”

Though 6ix9ine’s lawyer Lance Lazzaro contends his client’s gangsta persona was all an act, photographic and video evidence has surfaced incriminating the platinum-selling recording artist.

The Tory Lanez & Joyner Lucas Rap Battle

Tory Lanez’s Instagram livestream comments about Joyner Lucas sparked an all-out rap battle between the two

After feeling sleighted, Lucas challenged Lanez to trade bars and the latter delivered with “Lucky You.”

Soon after, Lucas hit back with his “Litty Freestyle.” Lanez returned fire with “Litty Again Freestyle” before Lucas finalized the battle with a freestyle over Kodak Black’s “ZEZE.”

Pusha T Gets Beer Thrown At Him At Toronto Show

Pusha T’s show in Toronto was met with beer throwing and a brawl on stage. The interruption didn’t stop the G.O.O.D. Music president from carrying on with his performance, which saw him do cuts such as “I Don’t Like (Remix)” and “The Story of Adidon” after the chaos ensued.

Although Pusha appeared to not be phased by a few folks trying to sabotage his show, police eventually shut his concert down.

King Push accused Drake of sending the hecklers to the event, causing fans to conceptualize various theories.

Mike WiLL Made-It Protégé B.A. The Great Is Representing 3 Generations Of Forgotten Voices

In an interview with Mike WiLL Made-It protégé B.A. The Great, DX’s Riley Wallace spoke to the burgeoning artist about life in Marietta, Georgia. It’s one of Atlanta’s largest suburbs, where the trap life legitimately exists.

M.O.P. Tell The Story Behind Unlikely Collaboration With LFO

DX’s Jake Rohn caught up with M.O.P. and their manager recently to talk about their unexpected collaboration with LFO, whose singer Devin Lima passed away on November 21.

“I didn’t even know the group,” M.O.P.’s longtime producer/manager Laze E Laze said. “I just heard the beat and was like, ‘This shit is hot. Let’s do this shit.’ I didn’t give a fuck about the group. And [Danze and Fame] were like, ‘Yo, we’re gonna do this.’

“Puffy called me and was like, ‘Why’d you do a record with LFO?’” Laze continued. “I said, ‘I don’t know who the fuck LFO is motherfucker. We was drunk. We just liked the beat. We didn’t give a fuck about LFO, but we liked the beat.’”
